As a professional animal behavior consultant, I work with humans and their canine companions to change unwanted behavior (in both species). Each day brings a new challenge. Whether it be figuring out why a dog growls, snarls and lunges when they see another dog, or how to train another to relax in the company of strangers. To get to this point, I have worked over the last ten years to expand my knowledge and skills with the goal to teach others what they need to know to work with their pets using positive, science-based training techniques. My educational background is animal behavior and biology. I have trudged through forests, jungles and military airfields to study a variety of amazing creatures including squirrels, vultures, and crows. I became fascinated with canine behavior during my undergrad research on wolves' social behavior at that time I began training dogs. After my undergrad I wanted to understand more about animal behavior and animal learning. The culmination was a master's research on collective movement in Tibetan Macaques in China. After working in the field I wanted to work with animals closer to home. So, my love for dogs and cats brought me to my current work with domestic animals in people's homes. I take on a variety of behavior issues in dogs and cats with my specialty in working with aggressive behavior in dogs as well as separation anxiety. I continue to grow as a professional in my field through ongoing education, professional mentors, and through my work with each and every human-animal team. It is an honor to work with my colleagues and clients to make life better for our companion animals.
